Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology is used to treat targeted areas of the body for specific conditions, often to provide pain relief, for example.  The biggest advantage of interventional radiology is that the treatment is very targeted due to the use of imaging during the procedure.  Ultrasound, CT, MRI and Mammography can all be used to visualise the area of interest and help target the treatment to the specific area of concern.  Another benefit of interventional radiology is that fact that it is minimally invasive compared to surgical procedures which often cost far more and can be associated with higher degrees of pain and longer recovery times.
